We all know how cancer has affected someone who is close to us. It is especially tough when that person is a young child. Faced with this unexpected health crisis situation, parents not only have their child’s condition to deal with, they have unexpected financial issues as well. Whether it is trips to Toronto for treatments, accommodations, time off work or covering extra expenses that come up along the way, extra financial support from community members can help ease this stressful situation. Last month community leaders and supporters participated in the 2nd Annual Fantasy Ball gala (An Evening in Paris 2008) in support of Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer. Held at the Idylwylde Golf & Country club, guests dressed up in their finest attire to help support local families, while enjoying fabulous French spirits and foods throughout the evening. Community sponsors for the gala included Vale Inco, Xstrata Nickel, Scotiabank, realtor Jan Oystrick, CIBC, Laamanen Construction, Pioneer Construction, Fisher Wavy, Atlas Copco, Mining Technologies International, Royal Bank, William Day, and Clarke Phillips Safety Supply. Also contributing generous donations were Peter Zwarich, Rastall Nuts & Bolts, Lewis Cleaners and Bristol Machine.
